Arabian Eyes Makeup Tips for Brides
What eye shadow shades work for you will be influenced by your skin tone, hair color and, most importantly, your eye color.
But the eye shadow shades you choose should ultimately be decided by your personal style, what looks good and feels right to you.
This eye makeup article will give you a guide to eye shadow shades that you may find work better for your eye, skin and hair color.
We also offer useful eye makeup tips for applying your eye shadow.
Step 1: Choosing an eye shadow to suit your eye color
Remember when choosing eye shadow shades that colors should be chosen keeping in mind your eye color, hair color and skin tone and not the color of the clothes you wear.
For Blue eyes the tried and true eye shadow color is deep blue (a darker shade than your eye color will make your eyes look really blue). Taupe, gray, violet, and purple are also great eye shadow colors for blue eyes. "Edgy" eye shadow color favorites for blue eyes include silver, turquoise, and fuchsia.
For Green or Hazel eyes greens are your best eye shadow color. To really brighten your eyes try a deep khaki or forest green. Brown, apricot, purple, and plum eye shadow will also enhance your eye color. "Edgy" eye shadow color favorites for green or hazel eyes are gold, lime-green, really light green, and bright purple.
For Brown eyes tried and true eye shadow colors include: copper, bronze, coffee, champagne (soft pink with a touch of apricot), brown (for a doe-eyed look), beige, and khaki green. "Edgy" eye shadow color favorites for brown eyes are tangerine, royal blue, hot pink, and lime green. The contrast adds punch to brown eyes.
Eye makeup tip: Generally warm tones i.e. earthy, golden etc. will compliment warm skin (yellow based, olive, medium to dark skins). Cooler tones e.g. pastels will compliment cool skin tones (very fair, very dark, and light to medium skins).
Eye makeup tip: Do not wear bold eye makeup and a bold lipstick at the same time. If you are using vivid or edgy eye shadow team it up with nude lipstick.
Eye makeup tip: When you look at a women's face you see her eyes not her eye shadow. The general rule is that light shades bring out your eyes and darker shades give them dimension. If you have small eyes, and want to give the impression of larger eyes, you want to stay with lighter shades. If you have large or protruding eyes you would want to use darker shades. Keep the basic principles of light and dark in mind while choosing and applying eye shadow color. Dark color recedes, light color brings forward.
Step 2: Choosing an eye shadow texture
Eye shadow generally has either a matte texture, a more reflective texture (e.g. satin texture) or a shimmering texture (e.g. dimensional or French Pearl texture). Which texture you use is a matter of personal taste however matte and satin textures are typically used for day wear and shimmering textures are typically worn for evening wear.
Step 3: Applying eye shadow
For smoother eye shadow application, that lasts longer, first apply a thin layer of foundation on your eyelids and then apply a thin layer of face powder. This gives you a clean canvas for your eye shadow and will also help to prevent the eye shadow from creasing. This will give you more even, accurate, eye shadow application.
Eye makeup tip: Choose good quality eye shadow brushes which are flat and angled. This will give you more even, accurate, eye shadow application.
Eye makeup tip: Always work your way up from lighter to darker shades, choosing colors that blend easily together.
The classic approach for applying eye shadow to the eyelids is to maximize the eye shape and eye shadow effect by using three matching eye shadow shades: light, medium and dark shades. This is the approach we recommend. Choosing three matching eye shadow shades sounds a little daunting but we've done the hard work for you. Our Triple Split eye shadows are one eye shadow split into three coordinated light to dark shades. Using the Triple Split eye shadow, or your personal choice of three matching shades, follow the simple instructions below for spectacular looking eyes!
1. Shape your eyebrows and apply eyeliner.
2. Select your Triple Split eye shadow or your choice of three matching eye shadow shades. Using the lightest shade cover the entire eyelid, from lash line to brow. Use a large flat eye shadow brush. Eye makeup tip: The lighter shade applied to the brow bone will give the eyes and wide and open look.
3. Apply the medium shade on the lower lid from the lash line to the crease of your eye. Use a smaller eye shadow brush.
4. Use your darkest shade in the outer corners of the eyes, out to the crease. Intensify for a more dramatic night-time look. You can also use this shade as an eyeliner. Remember to blend the shades for a smooth overall effect. Again use a smaller eye shadow brush.
5. Apply mascara sparingly for a sophisticated daytime look. Apply two coats for a more dramatic night-time look.
Remember there are no right or wrong colors. What is important is that you are comfortable with your color choices so don't be afraid to experiment.

While some women desire a romantic, naturally flushed look on their wedding day, others hope for piercing smoky eyes and slicked back hair to set a fashion forward mood that's decidedly Parisian. It's your day: consider the aisle your very own runway and pull out all the stops. A high fashion makeup look is bold and perfect for a festive black tie affair attended by a handful of your most fashionable friends. Dark Eyes, Light Lips
Smoky eye makeup and light baby lips look unabashedly de rigger paired with a couture wedding dress. Achieve the makeup look shown here with three eye shadows: snow white, ultra noir and a plummy charcoal.Begin with a firm eyeshadow brush, using it to darken your lid from lashline to crease with the black color, then blend the shadow outward at the outer corner of each eye with a fluffy eyeshadow brush. To soften and smoke up the look, follow with charcoal plum shadow, applied on top and blended into the crease.
Your makeup inspiration should come from the sexy feline shape of Italian actress Monica Vitti's eyes. Highlight your brow bone with snow white shadow. Finish with copious amounts of black eyeliner and faux lashes. To score maximum drama, opt for light blue or amethyst contact lenses.
Diamond-inspired wedding makeup shines as the look du jour. Try an icy cool lip gloss that goes on pearly white and tastes like peppermint to make your wedding kisses exceptionally sweet.
Light Eyes, Dark Lips
You can also create drama with a dark crimson pout and light eye makeup. Color washing is key to this high fashion makeup look. Start by applying the same snow white shadow from lashline to crease, blending it out toward the brow bone (instead of white eye shadow you can use lemon yellow as shown below). Line your lashes by pulling the lid taught and pushing a flathead eyeliner brush, dipped in black eye shadow, into the roots of the lashes. Keep your brows light (you can opt to comb them with a tinted gel a few shades lighter than your natural brows). Layer your lashes with black mascara. On lips, go for bold in a crimson lip color with a touch of diamond gloss for high shine.High Fashion Wedding Hairstyle Trends
Highlight a lithe, swan-like neck in a bridal up do that's slicked back with a deep side or center part, Parisian style. To give your hairstyle couture appeal, adorn it with a beaded brooch, pinned stealthily underneath the hair, or a gem-cluster pendant. Combined with come hither makeup, this look adds up to something that's seductive in the most offhand manner
When it comes to applying bridal makeup, there is a correct sequence and technique to follow as well as a preparatory stage to ensure that you will be looking your absolute best. Selection and advice on the best and most appropriate products, colours and styles is also imperative. What works for you in your day to day use or for other special occasions will not necessarily make you look your best on your big day! This kind of in depth knowledge can only come from a beautician experienced in the nuances of bridal makeup.
Skin & Eyebrows
The first thing to get right is your skin and eyebrows…I would recommend a series of facials in the run up to your wedding (that is if you don’t already have regular facials) Start a few months before the wedding as it is common for your skin to break out and get worse before it gets better after a facial if you haven’t had one for a long time. (Something to do with getting all the impurities out) Treat yourself to one a month for four months before the big day…your last one should be at least a few days before your wedding, to give your skin time to settle down. Eyebrows should be kept in shape regularly and shaped the day before the d-day if possible. On the morning of your wedding, make sure your skin is well moisturised about ten minutes before applying your make-up. I always recommend that you have your hair done after your Make-up. The next stage is to have your foundation applies. Remember that for the photographs you must take extra care when using light reflective foundation and concealer.A lot of brides pile on layers of foundation underneath the eye, in the misunderstanding that it is a concealer, when actually, it’s job is to “put light” in to dark areas…Don’t do it! You may look good to the naked eye, but it will show up too white in your photos and you could look like you have puffy eye bags!
I’m not saying to steer clear of subtle light reflecting foundations; in fact they are great for giving the appearance of dewy, youthful skin. Steer very clear of shimmery bronzers and blushers though…If you want to use a bronzer, use a matt one and use it very subtly, softly over your cheeks, bridge of your nose, top on your forehead, where you would naturally catch the sun…bear in mind that your neck should not be too different in colour to your face. (Don’t be tempted to try putting bronzer all over your neck…you’ll just end up staining your lengha!)
Eyes
For your eyes, you can’t go wrong with matt makeup with slight shimmeringshadows. I usually use a combination of colours to compliment the brides outfit.
A soft black eyeliner, (No browns) use black mascara for your wedding day,
even if you are very fair and usually go for brown- it will show up better in your
photographs, smudged close to the base of your lashes on your upper lid
will make your eyelashes appear thicker and, in conjunction with a little grey or
dakr brown eye-shadow applied witha think brush at the base of your lower
lashes, will subtly define your eyes perfectly for the photos.
Lips
For the bride’s lips, I like to use a colour that will not clash with the bride’s eyes and dress and of course her Bouquet…Bearing in mind you have already primed your lips when you applied your foundation and powder by putting a suitable balm or moisturiser on them after you have done your base. By the time you are ready for lipstick to be applied, your lips will be in perfect condition…-Always leave this to the very last. I use a “Nude” lip pencil over the entire lip before applying the lip colour as it gives extra staying power, apply lip-colour then blot with a tissue and reapply lipstick with a touch of gloss or a more shimmering colour to enhance the shadow of your bottom lip and a slight touch over the top lip.And Finally

The most important tip is to allow yourself a good three hours to get ready as this gives your beautician plenty of time to work her magic and make you look stunning. More importantly it will give you some all-important chill out time away from your interfering aunties. Before you make an entrance, a quick check and powder before you leave for the ceremony, and your Dulha will be totally bowled over PLUS you will look fantastic in the photos of your dream shaadi!
Tips for Finding Your Wedding Makeup Style
Typically, wedding makeup experts classify bridal makeup looks into four categories: natural (which tends to use delicate neutrals), romantic (which tends to use soft shades on the eyes and lips and creamy tones on the face), classic (which tends to use more blush and darker lips, with more neutral eye shadows) and dramatic (this can encompass the latest trends, such as smoky eyes, or anything that you see on the catwalk, such as the most recent trend of jewel tones). Here are some tips for finding the wedding makeup style that is right for you:
Consider your personal style.
This is the number one thing to think about. If you are the sort of person who wears minimal makeup on a daily basis, do not go crazy with dark smoky eyes; you won’t look like yourself. It is, however, important to remember that your makeup will be a bit darker than you are used to, in order to take good wedding makeup pictures.
Consider your dress.
If you are wearing a vintage wedding dress, it may be optimal to do a romantic look for your makeup. If you are wearing a modern style dress with sharp edges, you could potentially do a blend of the dramatic and classic style: you could do classic on the cheeks and lips, with a bit more drama around the eyes. Remember that you can always do a combination of these basic makeup styles.
